MDPI AND ATU SIGN MOU TO BUILD THE CAPACITIES OF UNIVERSITY’S STAFF AND STUDENTS

The Management Development and Productivity Institute (MDPI) and The Accra Technical University (ATU) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to build the capacities of University’s staff and students.

The ATU will provide practical training and building capacity of staff, students and participants in relevant areas towards enhancing productivity, growth and expansion of both institutions.

The MDPI will, in exchange provide internship, industrial attachment, visit and tour opportunities for students’ training and to build the capacity of staff of ATU. The signing took place at the ATU in Accra.

The Acting Director General of MDPI, Madam Bernice Adjei signed on behalf of the Institute and Professor Samuel Nii Odai, the Vice-Chancellor of ATU signed for the University.

The areas of cooperation include identification and development of tailor-made training, organizing short courses, conduction of research projects, certification of trainees, staff, students and participants.

At the signing ceremony, Madam Bernice Adjei emphasized the need for all to have soft skills. She said that “Soft skills are attributes that enable people to engage in meaningful interactions with others, including effective communication, time management, interpersonal skills, problem solving and decision- making skills. Soft skills could give an individual the edge in an increasingly competitive job market.

Professor Samuel Nii Odai expressed excitement over the new partnership and was hopeful that it will produce the desired results. He stated that the MoU is in line with the university’s strategic plan and educational philosophy.
