Management Development and Productivity Institute (MDPI) Engages Ministry of Finance to Implement Ghana’s National Productivity Framework

The Management Development and Productivity Institute (MDPI) has engaged the Ministry of Finance in a high-level strategic discussion aimed at advancing the implementation of Ghana’s National Productivity Framework and promoting productivity-driven reforms across both the public and private sectors.

The engagement forms part of MDPI’s ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration with key stakeholders in the development and implementation of a comprehensive framework that will drive productivity growth, enhance national competitiveness, and support sustainable socio-economic development.

During the meeting, the Director-General of MDPI, Professor Elijah Yendaw, emphasized the urgent need for Ghana to establish a practical and effective National Productivity Framework capable of measuring, monitoring, and evaluating performance across all sectors of the economy. He noted that a robust productivity framework would provide a strategic basis for improving efficiency, strengthening institutional performance, enhancing accountability, and informing evidence-based policy decisions.

Professor Yendaw further underscored the critical role of productivity in accelerating economic transformation, improving service delivery, and raising the standard of living of citizens. He stressed that achieving meaningful productivity gains requires a coordinated national approach involving government institutions, the private sector, academia, labour organizations, and development partners.

Officials of the Ministry of Finance acknowledged the importance of productivity enhancement in achieving Ghana’s economic and development objectives. The Ministry expressed its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote increased efficiency, improved public service delivery, prudent resource utilization, and sustainable fiscal management.

The discussions also explored opportunities for strategic collaboration between MDPI and the Ministry of Finance in key areas such as capacity building and institutional strengthening.

MDPI reiterated its commitment to working closely with government ministries, departments, agencies, private sector institutions, academia, labour organizations, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of Ghana’s National Productivity Framework.

The MDPI delegation was led by the Director-General, Professor Elijah Yendaw, and included the Deputy Director-General, Mr. Lambert Ajongbah; the Director of Consultancy, Dr. Kwadwo Boateng; Mr. Patrick Tarem (Information Technology); and Madam Beatrice Kotey.
