A high-level delegation from the Management Development and Productivity Institute (MDPI), led by its newly appointed Director General, Prof. Elijah Yendaw, paid a courtesy visit to the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Ghana Office on the 18th of June, 2025. The visit aimed to introduce Prof. Yendaw to JICA’s leadership, explore potential areas of collaboration, and reinforce the existing partnership between the two institutions.
The team was warmly received by Madam Suzuki Momoko, Chief Representative of JICA Ghana, and other key officials. The meeting served as an opportunity to formally introduce Prof. Yendaw as the new Director General of MDPI and discuss avenues for strengthening cooperation in areas such as capacity building, productivity enhancement, and the Kaizen project, a Japanese methodology for continuous improvement in organizational performance.
During the meeting, Prof. Yendaw expressed MDPI’s commitment to sustaining and expanding its partnership with JICA, particularly in initiatives that enhance productivity and efficiency in Ghana’s public and private sectors. He highlighted MDPI’s role as a leading national institution for training, consultancy, and research in management and productivity.
Madam Suzuki Momoko acknowledged MDPI as a key stakeholder in Ghana’s development agenda and commended the institute for its contributions to national productivity growth. She reiterated JICA’s willingness to continue supporting MDPI in capacity-building programs, especially under the Kaizen project, which has been instrumental in improving operational standards in various Ghanaian industries.
Both parties agreed to explore deeper collaboration in training and workshops on Kaizen and productivity improvement. And also, research and consultancy projects to support SMEs and public institutions and as well as exchange programs to facilitate knowledge sharing between Ghana and Japan.
Madam Suzuki expressed her appreciation for the visit, stating, “We highly value our partnership with MDPI and look forward to working closely with Prof. Yendaw and his team to further enhance productivity and development in Ghana.”
Prof. Yendaw, on behalf of MDPI, thanked JICA for its continuous support and reaffirmed the institute’s readiness to collaborate on impactful initiatives that drive national progress.
The meeting ended on a positive note, with both institutions pledging to maintain open communication and explore new opportunities for mutual growth.
